It is instructive to watch these pictures in the process of their creation. Only rarely does he work everywhere throughout the painting field at the same time, but it rather seems that he has already previously predeter- mined the structure and the colours of the picture according to an inner plan which, consequently, allows him to act with far greater liberty: a silvery shining light effect is composed of innumerable colours, to unfold its luminosity, intensity and tension in reciprocal and often contrary relations. At the same time it is striking how it gives contour to inner and outer form, how it disengages some particular crystal-clear or softly blurred sections from the intensity of colour values, how it marks high and low points.
