Mariano Rinaldi Goñi

Die neue Ausstellung des argentinischen, in Berlin beheimateten Malers Mariano Rinaldi Goñi in der Galerie Deschler versammelt die Essenz seiner mehrjährigen Kooperation mit dem Weltkulturerbe Rammelsberg – Museum & Besucherbergwerk Goslar und präsentiert diese Werke zum ersten Mal in Berlin. Nach einer ersten Ausstellung im Sommer 2019 war Goñi im Frühjahr 2022 mit einer großen Ausstellung im Weltkulturerbe mit dem Titel „Erz-Nornen: Mythen, Farben und Metalle“ nach Goslar zurückgekehrt.

Goñis malerische Technik, über viel Jahre perfektioniert, unterstützt die bildliche Symbolik der Gemälde perfekt. Leer gelassenen Teile der Leinwand als Sinnbild geistiger Klarheit, Abstraktion und spiritueller Erhebung treffen auf dick aufgetragene Farbklumpen, die gegenständliche Fülle und weltliches Streben nach materiellem Reichtum und Macht verkörpern. Dazwischen wirbelt Goñis rastlos energetischer Pinselduktus um eine Vielzahl von Details. Erstmals in Goñis Oeuvre kommen eine Reihe von Farben zum Einsatz, deren Pigmente einen Bezug zu den in Goslar abgebauten Erzen und Pigmentbestandteilen (u.a. Ockerfarbe und Schiefer) herstellen: Kupfer (für Goldfarbe), Zinkweiß und verschiedene Schwarztöne, darunter das besonders dunkle Spinell-Schwarz.

The new exhibition by the Argentinian, Berlin-based painter Mariano Rinaldi Goñi at the Galerie Deschler distills the essence of his multi-year collaboration with the Rammelsberg World Heritage Site – Museum & Visitor Mine Goslar, and presents these works for the first time in Berlin. After an initial exhibition in the summer of 2019, Goñi returned to Goslar in the spring of 2022 with a major exhibition at the World Heritage Site entitled "Erz-Nornen: Mythen, Farben und Metalle" (Ore Norns: Myths, Colors, and Metals).

Goñi's painterly technique, honed over many years, perfectly supports the pictorial symbolism of the paintings. Parts of the canvas left blank as an emblem of mental clarity, abstraction and spiritual elevation meet thickly applied lumps of paint embodying tangible abundance and worldly pursuit of material wealth and power. In between, Goñi's restlessly energetic brushwork swirls around a multitude of details. For the first time in his oeuvre, he employs a series of paints whose pigments relate to the ores and pigment components mined in Goslar (including ochre paint and slate): Copper (for gold), zinc white and various shades of black, including the particularly dark spinel black.
